I’m not even going to bother to write about the uncontested
seats up for roll-over reelection, except to carp and complain that nobody took
the trouble to run against any of them. A few are doing good work and should
indeed be left to continue doing that. Others really need to be replaced with
someone more competent and/or dedicated.
I’ll just list them, and maybe make one snarky comment on my
way by.
County Assessor – Mary Wilson Engle,
R Really needs to be replaced by someone who
reads the law and abides by it, who doesn’t try to force forest landowners to
log their property.
County Auditor – Sheilah Crider,
R Really needs to be replaced by
someone competent. Her staff has been covering for her for all these years.
County Clerk – Debra Van Pelt,
D
County Coroner – Robert Bishop,
no party preference Dr Bishop did right
by me at a very difficult time. He cares about survivors of the people whose
deaths he has to certify.
County Prosecutor – Greg Banks,
D Greg used to be my personal attorney
before he became prosecutor. He was great back then. He has changed with the
years, to such a degree that I’m just not at all sure about him any more.
County Treasurer – Wanda Grone,
R
District Court Judge – Bill Hawkins,
non-partisan
Well, that part was easy. Getting close to the finish line.
